Have you ever had this experience? You’re sitting next to someone at a retreat or party and when they ask: “so, what do you do?” you feel yourself freeze.
An upswelling of heat and passion surges from your heart into your throat. You search for the perfect words, only to hear yourself express a fraction of the potential that your work holds.
As a sensitive introvert, I’ve had this experience so many times!
That’s why I’ve developped these practices to help me – and the women I work with – speak about our work boldly and effortlessly; whether it’s to the person sitting next to you, in your newsletter, or in a Facebook post.

One – Do something you adore, every day.
I start my day dancing like a crazy cat as often as I can. It plugs me into Life’s endless creative flow. Connecting to your joy, even for ten minutes, might be the best thing you can do to help your work thrive today, as well as help you find the perfect words, at the perfect time, to describe it.
Two – Know your zone of genius.
You’re in your zone of genius when you’re doing the things you excel at, love doing and that connect directly to your purpose – this gives you a natural, simple euphoria. If you focus on spending as much time ‘in the zone’ as possible; by getting support or letting go of tasks that drain you, you’ll naturally be more able to transmit the heart of your work.
Three – Interview the people you serve.
Asking your audience about how you benefit them is one of the best ways to: a) make yourself feel awesome, and b) teach you about the true benefits of your offerings, so you can speak about them easily. (Harvesting your audience’s actual language also creates a treasure trove for newsletters and website text.)

I invite you to practice communicating your calling right now, by responding to this email with a one paragraph description of your work. I can’t wait to hear from you!
I’m celebrating your wild creativity,Love, Sophie
ps: Can I add one more?! Beauty. Beauty emboldens us. This interview about the ‘inner landscape of beauty‘ is my fave. (And mmmm, John O’Donahue’s dulcet, Irish tones…)
